It’s Good To Be Home.

We travelled to the city for Christmas again this year. We had a great time as usual and my grandson, who is two, was so exciited for santa to come.

Does that Santa fella come down this chimney? He’s not going to get by me!

When we left we had to go out to where my parents live to check on their house while they are away enjoying the warmer weather someplace other than Canada. My mother was so proud of the fact that my father had built a gate so I wouldnt have to climb the fence in order to get in the yard….. instead I had to climb the gate.

I thought maybe we would stay the night but there was no way to get Luna into the yard without having to dig. And after climbing 2 fences to check on things and walking in knee high snow there was no way I was going to dig. I did make sure to call my parents and tell them of my adventure and of course send pictures.

I have no pictures of the snow storm I drove through to get home but lets just say I probably should of dug a way into the yard and stayed for the night. We did make it home safely and, of course, the first thing Luna did when we got home was to go roll around on the bed and then go to sleep.

Trying to sleep here…stop taking pictures!

Luna Is Losing Her Mind

You know how some dogs are afraid of thunder? Well not my Lu. Your know how some dogs are afraid of fireworks? Not my Lu.

I’ve always been impressed by the fact that Luna has no real fears aside from dogs. But today… A bizarre one has cropped up.

I have a metal roof on my house. It’s great because the snow slides right off in the winter if the weather is warm enough. I am careful though on these warm days not to let Luna out alone in case it does slide. There can be a build up of ice under that snow and it is heavy.

Just now while sitting in the living room the snow decides to slide off. Well holy crap is Lu ever freaking out!

20131215-120417.jpgI have never seen her like this! And I’m really unsure why she is doing this. It’s not like this is the first time this has happened in the 3 years she has lived here. Why now? Do I comfort? Do I ignore? Do I wait for her to stop crying then comfort ? What do I do? She is really distressed.

A few minutes later….I have encouraged her to come out of her hiding spot and now she is on the couch laying on me. She keeps glancing up at the ceiling with wide eyes. I am giving her a massage in hopes that she will relax.

While we are sitting here, the snow on the roof has slid off once more and she has left her comforting massage to go hide in the corner and cry again. I need some help. Do they have a mental health hotline for doggies?

What’s in Your Couch?

Luna really enjoys when we go to visit my daughter and grandson. Mostly she enjoys this because there is always something to eat on the floor or hidden in a corner. Little kids tend to drop food so from the moment Luna and I arrive in the house she is off sniffing these forgotten treasures out of their hiding spots. She tends to be quite focused when trying to locate something.

She started out by sitting beside my daughter and then….well the picture tells the story. She did find a few forgotten Cheerios between the cushions and then had to be pulled out because she was basically pushing my daughter off the couch. We all had a really good laugh about it.

When we returned home today, Luna was again very tired. She went to the chair and laid down. She was joined shortly after by Nanny Cat who licked her a few times and then proceeded to cuddle.

I think they really do miss each other when they are apart.
